Machinist A & B -  2nd shift
Rate: Up to $26.87/hr plus shift premium



Experienced level of skilled machinist performing complex machining in support of production or job shop machining with limited supervision. Performs setup of required fixturing and tooling for parts of varying complexity within optimal setup time constraints. Assists Class C Machinists with pertinent information for transition from setup to production as necessary. Ability to create and communicate clearly, setup process plans for new customer products to streamline future setup times.





1.  Follow Company saftey rules.

2.  Uses safe material handling methods

3.  Report and/or correct unsage work conditions.

4.  Participate in plant safety inspections.

5.  Identify and/or report opportunities for safety improvement.

6.  Remind fellow employees to work safely.



1.  Able to hold dimensions with tolerances as specified.

2.  Use micrometers, precision calipers, gages, indicators, and other measuring tools as required.  Includes coordinate measuring machine and surface plate setups.

3.  Set up and record data on inspection documents during manufacturing processes.

4.  Signs off traveler signifying:

     a.  Work has been inspected.  Dimensions, specifications, and count have been verified.

     b.  Workmanship meets or exceeds company and customer expectations and is complete as defined by job paperwork and cut list.

     c.  The products are properly marked, packaged and placed in queue for the next processing step.  (Job #, Qty., Part #, Heat # & Pallet #).

5.   Enter time correctly into the MES Station (timekeeping system). 



1.  Efficiently setup and operates without assistance the following machine tools:  Manual lathes, Manual milling machines, precision griding machines, horizontal boring mills, CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and other miscellaneous equipment.

2.  Designs, selects and sets up proper fixturing to hold parts.

3.  Select and properly use cutting tools for manual and CNC operations.

4.  Writes and updates CNC programs, perform CNC control offset and program changes.  Able to download and upload CNC programs to off-line devices.

5.  Able to identify, recommend and implement the proper machining process or changes to the process.

6.  Debur machined parts properly for safe handling, meeting print spedcifications or company standards. 



1.  Select and use the proper material handling devices to load and unload parts.

Zero defects.

Perform work in time allowed.

Work in a safe manner.  



Education and Experience:

High School education or equivalent.

2 year technical college diploma or equivalent work experience.

A minimum of two years in the Machinist B classification at ERMC


Knlowledge and Skills:

Blueprint reading.

Inch, metric and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Able to solve mathematical or trigonometry problems with a pocket calculator.

Able to lift 50# regularly

Able to understand oral and written instructions.

Knows how to use the Machinery's Handbook

Understands and knows how to apply the principles of machinability and horsepower requirements.

Understands and is aware of the proper application of thermal conditions during the machining or inspection process.

Knowledge of safe material handling procedures.
